Between a donor and a non-profit organization there must be transparency and trust. There are over 80,000 non-profit organizations in Canada today and most must fundraise in order to survive. Such is the case for Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter, although we receive funding from the province of Ontario and the United Way of Greater Toronto we still must fundraise at least 12% of our annual revenue to provide viable programs and a safe environment for women and children.
Our annual charity return can be viewed on the Revenue Canada webpage. Our audited financial statements are available in our annual report (EWS tab) and we keep our administration costs at 12% and our fundraising and volunteering costs at 6%. The staff and management of Ernestine’s work very hard to ensure the most money possible is available for the women and children.
