Your financial donations make a difference to the lives of women and children who find a haven at Ernestine's. Whether it's a little or a lot, your gift has an impact on rebuilding lives. At Ernestine's, your donation will be directed to where it's most needed.
To make a donation please use the Canada Helps link below. This will take you offsite to Canada Helps, an organization which provides a safe and secure way to donate online to Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter.

We’d like to give you ideas about what your donation will provide to a woman or child living at Ernestine’s:
- $25 Pajamas for a woman or child who come to Ernestine’s with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.
- $50 A year of school supplies for a boy or girl.
- $75 A child’s birthday party, complete with cake and a gift.
- $100 Kitchen supplies for a woman moving into her own home.
- $200 Welcome baby – diaper bag, diapers, clothes for a new baby.
A charitable tax receipt will be provided for all financial contributions over $10.00.
Goods
Ernestine's also benefits from donations of goods and appreciates your help in providing items to our clients.
We are always in need of non-perishable food items for our food bank, as we have seen an increase in the number of women and children using this service. We are partnered with the North York Harvest Food Bank who provide a truck load of food to Ernestine’s bi- weekly. While we are very grateful for their support we have difficulty keeping our food bank shelves stocked. Please support us by donating items to our food bank.
The following items are always in need at the shelter:
- Peanut butter
- Pasta
- Rice
- Baby food
- Flour
- Canned vegetables
- Juice boxes
- Canned fish
- Cereal
Please help by providing the following items to our clients:
New
- Gift certificates to Wal-Mart, Zellers and grocery stores
- Toiletries – soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste
- Diapers all sizes
- Feminine hygiene products
Gently Used or New
- Dishes
- Glasses
- Cutlery
- Pots and pans
- Small appliances; kettles, toasters, microwaves
We do not accept donations of used clothing, shoes or stuffed toys.

Furniture
Due to a limited amount of storage available at the shelter we are unable to accept donations of furniture. If you would like to donate furniture please contact the Furniture Bank at 416-934-1229 or info@furniturebank.org
We will provide gift in kind tax receipts for donations where the fair market value can be determined in accordance with CRA policies and guidelines. Please contact Jill Cunningham at 416-743-1733 ext. 2010 or financedirector@ernestines.ca if you are requesting a receipt. Our full policy will be posted on this site in the near future.
