Ernestine's Women's Shelter relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and businesses to operate much-needed programs and services.
We deeply appreciate all financial and in-kind donations, and keep administrative costs below 10% of our annual budget.

Private Donations
Every gift makes a huge impact on the lives of the women and children who use Ernestine's services to escape violence and find a new beginning.
Your gift assists us in providing safety, shelter and support to those who seek our help. You can make donations of $20, $50, $100, or any amount here or call (416) 743-1733 ext. 2015.
With your donation, you will receive Ernestine's semi-annual newsletter and annual report. Your gifts are so important to our services. Every dollar makes a difference!
Corporate Partnerships

In-Kind Donations
We always seek home and work items for women rebuilding their lives and starting new homes:
- Kitchen utensils and dishes
- Non-perishable food for our food bank
- Appliances
- Office equipment and office supplies
- New or gently used sheets, blankets and towels for shelter use or for residents leaving the shelter.
- Toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, body wash
- Gift certificates
Volunteer
Would you like a meaningful way to contribute to your community?
Ernestine's welcomes volunteers. The support of willing individuals who seek to donate their time and energy is vital. Your help will allow trained staff to focus on delivering shelter services they're trained to provide to our clients.
You can:
- Serve on the Board of Directors
- Serve on the fundraising or house/new building committees
- Assist at fundraising events
- Create your own fundraising event
- Use your skills/expertise (massage, budgeting, etc.) for the women or children
- Run a book club for residents or ex-residents
- Help move residents to their new apartments
- Pick up donations of furniture and deliver to our storage area
- Help with outings for the women and children
- Organize a picnic or other events for the residents
- Donate school supplies (lunch boxes, rulers, backpacks, etc.)
- Sort in-kind donations
- Computer data entry
- Escort women to appointments
